Brooklyn Heavy Metal
Raised by a herd of cattle in the rolling hills of Vermont, Abbi escaped her fate as a milk maid by trading in her mukluks and cow paddies for Bottega and Bourbon. After graduating from NYU’s Gallatin School, where she concentrated in costume history and jewelry design, she began working in fashion and beauty and recently re-entered the world of theater. Years ago, after a few months of brushing reindeer and fat filled Santa suits for the Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular, she wasn’t sure if this was her true calling.

A few years of exploration later she found herself in the men’s bathroom at Webster Hall working as a wardrobe supervisor for The Awesome 80’s Prom. This opportunity soon blossomed into a variety of wardrobe styling and costume design jobs.

Having made it a little over a quarter of a century these diverse experiences have become the driving creative force behind Brooklyn Heavy Metal. The dichotomies of city and country, glamour and grunge, are reflected in each unique piece she designs and creates for her bold jewelry collection hand made in Brooklyn in the heart of Gowanus.
